    Description

    Featuring a brand new Pottery Barn Kids Handcrafted Beaded Hippo.  Measuring an impressive 18" L x 14" H x 6" W, this piece is absolutely stunning in lavender and bright pink.
    Handcrafted by local weavers in the Cebu Province of the Philippines, each of our vibrantly colored beaded animals has a story behind it.  They're meticulously crafted from wooden beads derived from coconut trees - long revered in Cebu for their medicinal value - that are shaped, holed, ground and polished by hand.  They're then colored with water-based dyes and hand strung on a metal frame to create a vivid patchwork of color.  Many of the weavers are Mothers whose Husbands work as farmers and carpenters.  While their children are at school, they craft these animals as a source of additional livelihood.  The result is a beautiful piece of art that helps give back to the Cebu Community.
